Who we are

We manage over $3.3 billion in residential mortgages and deposits, representing over 53,000 accounts across Canada. Headquartered in Calgary, we are a Canadian Schedule I chartered bank with Western Canadian roots. We were established in 1997 as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Alberta Motor Association (AMA), the largest membership service organization in the province.

And today, we’re still rolling up our sleeves and using our expertise to find solutions—no matter how unique or challenging the situation. We’re just getting started.

What we do

We specialize in competitive residential mortgages and deposit products through a select network of brokers. Our alternative lending solutions are specially designed for clients with non-traditional sources of income. Plus, with great rates on Guaranteed Investment Certificates (GICs) and High-Interest Savings Accounts (HISAs), we make it easy to safely grow your money.

Above all, we aim to make homeownership attainable and saving simple.

WHY US?

We listen. Like you, we’re everyday people who understand that real-life is imperfect. Wouldn’t it be nice if we did everything right, all the time, and never took a financial misstep? Sometimes life hands you lemons, and we’re really good at making lemonade. Because we specialize in self-employed clients, those who earn income in less conventional ways, and those who have bruised credit, we’re a non-judgmental financial ally on your journey.

Unlike a traditional bank, we have no branches. This means less time managing logistics and more time focussed on you and our ‘why’ – helping you succeed. Our focus is providing honest, straightforward service and financial solutions for everyday living and important life events.

We’re financial service experts with flexible mindsets. Being a smaller bank makes us nimble, and that means we can respond quickly with innovative approaches that don’t need to go through multiple levels of approvals.

Our customers are everything. When you become a customer of Bridgewater Bank you’re like our neighbour – even family – and we treat you that way.
