How to apply for a high-interest savings account
To start the exciting journey towards watching your money grow with the Bridgewater Bank Smart eSavings™ Account you must confirm the following information:
- Be a Canadian resident over the age of majority in your province.
- Have an existing chequing or savings account with a Canadian financial institution.
Then please have the following information available prior to applying:
- Employment information.
- Social Insurance Number (SIN).
- A personal cheque from a bank account in your name (to deposit funds into your new Smart eSavings account). The cheque must be made payable to Bridgewater Bank in Canadian funds. Your name must be preprinted on the top left corner and cheques from a business account cannot be accepted.
Please contact us at the customer experience centre to apply, we’ll help you through the application process and answer any additional questions you may have about opening an account.
For additional peace of mind, our Bridgewater Bank Smart eSavings Account is eligible for Canada Deposit Insurance Corporation (CDIC) coverage, up to applicable limits. CDIC is a federal Crown corporation that protects eligible deposits at financial institutions that are CDIC members.
Prepare to start saving
If you choose to open a joint account, we require a joint cheque with both applicants’ signatures or you may complete and send two separate cheques made payable to Bridgewater Bank.
Your Smart eSavings account will be active once everything has been cleared and processed – including your cheque – which must clear in order to set up a link between your new Smart eSavings account and the account on which the cheque is drawn. This allows you to transfer funds into your Smart eSavings account to start earning high interest right away.
Currently, we do not offer Smart eSavings accounts to residents of Quebec.
